The table shows exterior CNEL and interior CNEL reported as whole numbers (i.e. 70) while the average interior DNL numbers is reported with a single decimal point (i.e. 45.2). It seems odd to use whole numbers and then report the average with a decimal point. My question is, should they all be reported as whole numbers, or all with a decimal point, or at a minimum mentioned that they are calculated with a decimal point but rounded to a whole number for reporting purposes?

Answer:

The recommendation is that tenths of a dB be used for calculation purposes, but that the resulting average interior noise level be reported as a whole number. The table of results can present whole numbers everywhere, but have the reports note that tenth of a dB was used in the calculations and that they were rounded to whole numbers for reporting purposes.

Page 10, paragraph 1 – we assume the reference to the ASTM E966 correction should be stated as -5 dB, not -3 dB, for the flush method?

Answer:

Yes, the ASTM E966 correction should be -5dB for the flush method.

Can you direct me to the correct NEMs to use to determine the exterior CNEL for all tested properties?
